Midwifery is where my journey unfolds. Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I would have something to do with birth. I even learned the word obstetrician so I could answer the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" When I became pregnant, my OB asked if I wanted to see one of the Midwives because I was not high risk. That was my first introduction to Midwifery.
My real inspiration came when I met my mother-in-law, Tracey Bowman. She is an amazing Midwife who practices out of New Hampshire. Her passion for life, rubs off on the clients she has. I have personally seen the joy that comes to her previous client's faces when they see her. They remember a time when the were at their most vulnerable and Tracey was by their side.
I also had the joy of celebrating her 50th birthday with her and seeing how the community of midwives had gathered together to surround her with their love and respect. I have heard the stories of how she inspired other women to become Midwives. I realize that her inspiration goes far beyond me.
As my journey continues, I continue to be inspired. The ambitious new generation keeps me hopeful, that old traditions will not be lost in modern medicine. Midwifery speaks to me in a language only few understand. Those who do, can not ignore it's beauty and it's wisdom. It is my inner calling.
